Oklahoma will be without star guard Willie Warren for the fourth straight game tonight at Texas.
Can the Longhorns avenge that defeat tonight at home, or will the Sooners be able to pull off a Texas-sized shocker tonight in Austin?
This is one of our two picks from SimuPick tonight, and you can check out the other pick for the night here.
College Basketball: Texas Longhorns vs. Oklahoma Sooners (9 P.M. ET, ESPN)
Odds (brought to you by SBG Global)
Spread: Texas -13.5
Over/Under: 144.5
OU led from start to finish, and the Sooners blew open a close game a little more than midway through the first half, and the ‘Horns were never able to get over the hump despite getting within five, six, and seven on a few occasions in the second half.
Since then, the Sooners have lost six in a row, and the chances of them breaking that streak tonight aren’t very high. Oklahoma is only 1-9 on the road this season, and they’ve put up a goose egg on the road in Big 12 play, going 0-7. And they haven’t done a great job of keeping it close on the road either, as only one of those losses was by single digits (a 65-62 loss at Texas A&M on Jan. 19).
Texas’ struggles since starting the season 17-0 and ascending to the #1 ranking are well documented. After Saturday’s 70-63 loss at Texas A&M, Texas is 5-7 since their 17-0 start. The road has been anything but friendly to the Longhorns in that span, but they haven’t been world beaters at home either, after starting the season 11-0 at home. In their current run, the ‘Horns are 3-2 at home, with losses to Baylor and Kansas.
Oklahoma won in Norman without much of a contribution from Willie Warren (16 minutes, 1-1 from the field, 1-2 from the free throw line, two rebounds, two assists), and he’ll miss his fourth straight game tonight. I don‘t see the Sooners winning this one (wouldn‘t see them winning even with Warren in), but if they could keep it within 13 at Kansas like they did without him in last week’s 81-68 loss in Lawrence, then they can certainly keep it within a reasonable deficit tonight.
But does the sim share my opinion?
