Cleveland looks to be rolling towards the top seed in the East, but if Boston or Orlando have any hope of catching the Cavaliers over the last couple of months of the regular season, matchups like the one tonight in Beantown are of the utmost importance for the chasing pack.
The Cavaliers broke their three-game losing streak on Tuesday night with a 105-95 win over New Orleans, and they go into Boston looking to prevent a three-game road losing streak.
Considering that hasn’t happened this season and that the Cavaliers have one of the league’s best road records at 19-10, it’s no surprise that they’re favored. In fact, they have more road wins and a higher road winning percentage than Boston has at home.
The Celtics have rebounded from a 6-8 January to win seven of 10 in February, but tonight’s matchup will be a real test, to say the least. Boston is only 6-5 at home in 2010, and they have had their share of struggles against the East‘s top teams. There’s a rather unsightly 1-3 mark against Orlando, and there’s an equally unsightly 0-3 mark against Atlanta.
Boston is 1-0 against Cleveland this season, but a lot has changed on both sides since the Celtics won in Cleveland in their season opener. Sure, they’re playing better right now, but Cleveland’s no slouch, and the last thing that they’ll be tonight is intimidated.
