Can Gailey turn a dismal offense around?

Chan Gailey Made Head Coach

The hired Georgie Tech coach Chan Gailey as their new head coach.

Saying Gailey’s name out loud doesn’t quite erase the taste that left in fan’s mouths, and it doesn’t necessarily get you thinking “playoffs”, either.

However, with 34 years of experience in college and the pro’s, Gailey does offer a solid chance of a swift offensive turn around. He made Tyler Thigpen look like a polished pro in his spread offense in two years ago, and he’s worked magic with Kordell Stewart in the past.

Gailey may not have been the Bills first choice to lead their team, but at least the offense should no longer be quite so pathetic.

Look for Gailey to try to hold onto any firepower he can get, as well as acquire some. ’ chances of re-signing likely just got a little better, and those trade rumors could become very real if Gailey gets jumpy.

Retiring?

In a recent interview, Warner admitted that the pressure of living up to his name and performing at a high level has gotten to him, saying that football wasn’t as fun as it used to be.

This could be a strong sign that Warner has already made a decision to call it quits, and ’s Rick Reilly feels that he will.

However, it’s noteworthy that Brett Favre said something very similar when he retired the first time, but then returned just months later. And then again…

Headed For Buffalo?

The National Football Post’s Mike Lombardi is pointing out Buffalo as a possible landing spot for , although no official reports of talks between the teams have been made.

All we know for sure is that Vick wants out, the Eagles are listening, and Chan Gailey (the new Bills head coach) has a ton of experience using athletic quarterbacks.

Buffalo re-signing Terrell Owens and bringing in Vick could potentially turn their weak offense into a strength, as odd as that sounds.

Has Foot Surgery

There’s no real timetable for Stewart’s return after having surgery done on his Achilles, but he should back back in time for training camp.

Stewart also reportedly had surgery on his pinkie, although we’re pretty sure it’s that foot most fantasy owners are worried about.

Pursuing Coaching Candidates

Despite still having head coach under contract (for now), owner is reportedly aggressively seeking outside help.

It appears Davis doesn’t mind ruffling Cable’s feathers and making him sweat, but at the same time, he doesn’t want to risk losing Cable if he can’t get “his guy” and upgrade his coaching staff.

Jim Fassel and Marc Trestman are two of the supposed front-runners, while coach, Jim Harbaugh, has also been rumored to be in the mix.

Retires

Just days after re-signing with and giving the entire team a jolt of energy, McAllister officially retired as a member of the Saints.

Apparently, that was the plan all along. All of the Saints’ top backs appear to be in full health, so McAllister wasn’t really needed, anyways. The former star running back is expected to stay on with the team for the rest of their playoff run as an honorary captain.
