(Sanchez was awful against the Bills)
Matthew Stafford Denies Visit With Dr. Andrews
Despite ESPN reports stating that Stafford would meet with Dr. James Andrews about the quarterback’s injured right knee, Stafford denies it. He also denies even being worried about the extent of the injury.
Stafford doesn’t have a timetable for a return yet, but with the entire week seven off due to the Lions bye, we’re likely to not learn more about this until week eight approaches.
New York Sticking With Struggling Mark Sanchez
This is probably the best move. Sanchez has definitely ben struggling, throwing nine interceptions in two of New York’s past three games, while playing a big part in giving both games away.
Sanchez hasn’t looked too comfortable, and with an excellent rushing effort by Thomas Jones aiding him, he doesn’t have muh excuse for the poor play. It’s simply rookie mistakes and poor decision-making, and benching Sanchez five starts into his first season likely won’t do him much good.
Giving Kellen Clemens another shot will likely do the Jets even less good, as well.
Anquan Boldin Dealing With High Ankle Sprain
It’s too early to tel if this means anything, but judging by Boldin’s past history, he’s a strong candidate to play week seven’s game against the Giants, injured or not.
Still, monitor his status all week and upgrade third and fourth receivers Steve Breaston’s and Jerheme Urban’s value.
Jets’ Kris Jenkins Lost For Season?
Head coach Rex Ryan said the injury appead to be “severe”, and the injury didn’t look very good on the field, either. Talk is going around that Jenkins likely has ligament damage, and that it could very well end his season.
This could be a huge blow to what still was a solid rush defense.
Adrian Peterson’s Ankle Injury Not Serious
This is just a minor blip on the injury radar, as it bodes no real significance. Peterson left the game briefly against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, but returned to finish the game.
He should be perfectly fine for another tough match-up with the Pittsburgh Steelers in week eight.
Minnesota Vikings Worried About Winfield’s Injury
Winfield hurt his toe against the Ravens on Sunday, and it was clear that his presence was missed during Baltimore’s second-half rally.
An MRI should show the extent of the damage today, and we’ll have reports when there is word of a timetable for his return. Winfield is by far the Vikings best defensive back, even at 32, and his absence would create a hole in Minnesota’s pass defense.
