(You can stop worrying about Wes Welker.)
Washington’s Chris Samuels Done For Year?
Samuels is dealing with spinal stenosis, and The Washington Post is reporting that it’s very possible his season could be over. And at age 32, this injury could even be career-threatening.
The loss of Samuels for any amount of time hurts almost all of the Redskins sparse offensive weapons. His absence last week forced tight end Chris Cooley to block more than usual, and didn’t help any as Clinton Portis struggled to top 50 yards rushing.
Tampa Bay Inching Toward Josh Freeman
From one Josh to another? Possibly so.
While Josh Johnson hasn’t been playing terrible, Tampa Bay is still losing, and with reasonably tough opponents ahead of them, it doesn’t look like they’ll be winning anytime soon.
Reports give Johnson the next two weeks to prove himself and lead Tampa Bay to a win, but the odds are against him. If Tampa Bay is 0-7 coming out of it’s bye week, expect to see Josh Freeman under center not too long after.
Bears Obtain Gaines Adams From Buccaneers
Tampa Bay shipped Adams, 2007′s first rounder, to Chicago for a future second round pick.
Head coach Raheem Morris had said before the season that Adams was on the verge of being a bust, and considering Tampa Bay’s 0-5 start, the Buccaneers felt they could spare him.
Chicago gets another young defensive end with great potential to develop, while potentially finding their future replacement for current star defensive end, Adewale Ogunleye.
Wes Welker Off of New England’s Injury Report
Whew. This marks the first week all season that you can keep Welker in your line-up with no hesitation.
Welker’s knee is much better than it has been in past weeks, and after two straight games of six catches or more, Welker appears well on his way to returning to form.
Percy Harvin Still “Questionable”
Harvin is dealing with a shoulder injury, but after practicing on Thursday and Friday, is a likely “go” for Sunday’s game at home against Baltimore.
Check his status before the game to be sure, but it looks like Harvin should be available as a solid WR3.
Pierre Thomas Limited, but Listed as Probable
He’s a tough sell either way, as he’s been banged-up all week. He’s facing a tough defense that will likely force the Saints to pass, and is also expected to lose some carries to Mike Bell and Reggie Bush.
You never can tell with the Saints offense. Keep an eye on his status all the way up until game-time.
