(Has Willie Parker officially lost his job?)
Willie Parker and Troy Polamalu Back to Full Practices
This doesn’t mean they’ll play for sure this week, but it’s a good sign.
The Steelers are likely to stick with the hot hand and give Rashard Mendenhall the majority of the carries, while it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take it slow with Polamalu, either.
Regardless, both players are welcomed additions to a team that just lost Aaron Smith for the season.
Maurice Jones-Drew Calls Out Offensive Coordinator
Bush is mostly just frustrated that his role as the team’s feature back hasn’t been quite as glorious as he (and we) had hoped. That, and he and the rest of the offense just got shut-out by Seattle, 41-0, on Sunday.
Still, Jones-Drew referred to himself as the league’s second highest-paid “decoy”, naming Reggie Bush as the first. Ouch.
Don’t fret over Jones-Drew venting. It’s normal for high-paid studs to want to do well. Look for the Jaguars’ offense to bounce-back against the St. Louis Rams this week.
Correll Buckhalter Back at Practice
There wasn’t any official report, but he did participate, and should be listed “questionable” for Monday night’s game against the Chargers.
Regardless of popular opinion, it’s unlikely this hurts Knowshon Moreno’s new startning status. Josh McDaniels and co. will likely ease Buckhalter back into the offense and give him a light load, if in fact he does play this week.
Moreno has been looking good, so feel free to still use him as a quality RB2 or an excellent Flex option.
Jon Gruden on Redskins’ Wish List
And why wouldn’t he be? The ‘Skins main problem is their offense, and it’s not necessarily for a lack of weapons.
Jim Zorn is half-way out the door. We know it, the players know it, and it’s likely that he even knows it behind doors. However, until it happens and until the Redsins find a permanent replacement, speculation is the name of the game.
Gruden is reportedly a top candidate, while former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan is another name that keeps popping up.
Pierre Thomas Limited With Ankle Injury
This doesn’t mean he won’t be able to play, but it suddenly means Mike Bell and Reggie Bush see their value increase. The Saints may not want to take any chances with hindered backs against an aggressive Giants defense, so going into a huge game with bale bodies would be the safe move.
Bell is dealing with issues of his own as he continues to try to get back. This is nowhere close to being a resolved, concrete situation, so keep an eye on the Saints backfield the rest of the week.
Braylon Edwards Looking Great in Practice
This isn’t a big shocker. When you’re used to taking passes from an inaccurate Derek Anderson or a gun-shy Brady Quinn, a gutsy quarterback who likes to go deep can change your spirits.
Edwards is having fun and proving he was worth trading for, which should make him a fine WR3 (and possibly better) going forward. It all really depends on how much money he wants to make next season, as he is currently in a contract year.
