1. Chris “Beanie” Wells (Ohio State)
Has near perfect size and strength, with great vision and a solid burst. Breaks a ton of tackles and runs hard, but doesn’t have elite speed or quickness. Not a very good receiver, and has durability concerns.
2. Knowshon Moreno (Georgia)
Very productive runner who has great agility and vision. Can create holes for himself, as well as break tackles. Doesn’t have great timed speed and has minor durability concerns.
3. Donald Brown (UConn)
Had a sensational senior season (over 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns). Doesn’t have elite speed, but isn’t slow. Fairly elusive.
4. LeSean McCoy (Pittsburgh)
Productive in a strong conference, while displaying solid speed, vision, and elusiveness. Doesn’t have desired size or bulk, but possesses natural awareness and shiftiness.
5. Shonn Greene (Iowa)
Has great size, bulk, and strength, but is not a gifted athlete. Doesn’t show the desired agility and speed top prospects usually do. Not very experienced, and was only productive for one season, albeit an impressive one (1,800 yards and 20 scores).
6. Andre Brown (North Carolina State)
Has good size and strength. Can break tackles and is an adept blocker. Was not overly productive and doesn’t have great speed or agility.
7. Javon Ringer (Michigan State)
Might be too small to carry the full load in the pros. Aside from height and bulk, has all the necessary tools to be productive at the next level. Speed is average, but has a solid burst and excellent overall athleticism. Can run inside and outside effectively.
8. Ian Johnson (Boise State)
An underrated runner who is stronger and more athletic than he’s given credit for. Has great timed speed to go along with good vision and instincts. Is a powerful runner who can break many tackles.
9. Mike Goodson (Texas A&M)
Has outstanding athleticism, but is inexperience and wasn’t very productive. Played against solid competition, but is mostly an outside runner and is somewhat one-dimensional.
10. Rashad Jennings (Liberty)
Very strong and hard runner. Didn’t face elite competition, and doesn’t have the elite skills you look for in most prospects. Pretty productive and a decent athlete. A bit fumble-prone.
11. Kory Sheets (Purdue)
Very athletic, with a nose for the end zone. Patient, reliable runner. Doesn’t have a great work ethic and isn’t very strong or powerful.
Very productive against solid competition, but his physical tools are only average. Has below-average timed speed. Clearly has the ability to carry the load at the next level, but average athleticism could hold him back.
13. Jeremiah Johnson (Oregon)
Has a powerful stiff arm, runs hard and faster than he times. Showed scouts his potential with a solid senior season. Average size, bulk, and speed project him as a rotation back in the NFL.
14. Glen Coffee (Alabama)
Doesn’t waste time hitting holes, and isn’t easy to bring down. Needs to get bigger, and his body is far from being maxed out. Had a fine senior season, but is inexperienced and needs to prove he can be an every-down back.
15. Bernard Scott (Abilene Christian)
Extremely productive back with solid agility and size. Plays faster than his average timed speed. Put up unbelievable numbers (over 4,300 yards and 53 scores in last two years), but faced low-level competition.
