Earlier today, I revealed 11-20 in my list of the top 20 most important for the upcoming season. Now, I give you the top 10, and just like the first 10, these could all prove to be classics.

If you want to get tickets for any of these games, just click on the links for each game, and it’s as easy as 1-2-3.

10. Pittsburgh vs. West Virginia, Nov. 28: Last season, West Virginia’s hopes of playing in the title game were crushed by a shocking home loss to the Panthers in the .

That win was a stellar end to an otherwise disappointing 5-7 season, but when the Mountaineers and Panthers face off this time around, it could be for the Big East title.

9. Auburn vs. Georgia, Nov. 15: Georgia may or may not still be in the national title hunt come their trip to Jordan-Hare Stadium, depending on the outcome of their games against LSU and Florida few weeks prior, but this does shape up to be a very important contest for the Bulldogs, from potential SEC/national title and at-large BCS berth implications.

It could prove to be equally important for an Auburn team that could emerge as a national title contender if their QB situation doesn’t get in the way, and their defense can rise to the occasion in tough tests at home against LSU and Tennessee and at West Virginia in what will be another must-see game.

8. Kansas vs. Missouri, Nov. 29: Last season, the Big 12 North title came down to this game, and so did the #1 ranking heading into the Big 12 Championship Game, as #4 Missouri beat #2 Kansas 36-28 to claim the #1 ranking, though they wound up keeping it for only a week.

The Tigers are the favorite in the North this season, and along with West Virginia and Clemson, they’re also in that second group of potential national title contenders behind the likes of favorites Florida, Georgia, USC, Ohio State, and Oklahoma. But, the Jayhawks are a top-15 to 20 team in their own right, and they should come into this game with a chance to take the division title and dash Mizzou’s possible national title hopes.

Then again, they could also knock them straight into a BCS bowl, if things go as they did last year, when Kansas ended up in the Orange Bowl and Missouri was on the outside looking in.

7. Auburn vs. LSU, Sept. 20: Thanks in part to these two having to break in new starting quarterbacks this season, the SEC West is shaping up to be up for grabs this season. However, the defending national champions and Tommy Tuberville’s Tigers do appear to be the best of the bunch, and this early-season matchup will give someone an early leg up in the West. Expect the defenses to play a big part in this one, and that means the likes of Tyson Jackson and Antonio Coleman could make themselves a lot of money.

6. USC vs. Notre Dame, Nov. 29: After the ‘Bush Push’ beat the Irish in South Bend in Weis’ first game against the Trojans in 2005, USC has run away with the last two games, and with a national title in their sights, the Trojans will look to put the belt to ND yet again.

Notre Dame is expected to be better in 2008, but what will be enough to keep Charlie Weis employed into 2009? 7 wins? 8 wins? If the Irish don’t have a much improved season, this could be Weis’ last game in charge. But, if a 6-5 or 7-4 Notre Dame team comes into the Coliseum and knocks USC out of the title race, it could be that signature win that both the program and Weis need.

5. Illinois vs. Ohio State, Nov. 15: Ohio State players and fans can no doubt remember the 28-21 upset that Juice Williams and the Illini delivered in Columbus last November. While the Buckeyes recovered from the loss to make the BCS title game, the win catapulted the Illini into serious BCS consideration.

While OSU is the unquestioned favorite in the Big 10 and in the picture for a third straight title game appearance, Illinois could step up and be a serious challenger for the conference crown, and if they could beat the Buckeyes in Columbus, they can certainly do it in Champaign.

4. Illinois vs. Missouri, Aug. 30: Who knew at the start of last season that both Illinois and Missouri would have the seasons that they did? This season, neither team will sneak up on anyone, and their season-opening matchup will be one to watch. A win for the Illini could push them into the top 10, while the Tigers could do a lot to push themselves into that first group of national title contenders with a victory.

After the 40-34 shootout last year, expect a lot of fireworks, with Juice Williams and Chase Daniel showcasing themselves for the nation–and for Heisman voters.

3. Utah vs. BYU, Nov. 22: As if bragging rights weren’t enough, when these two Beehive State rivals meet in Salt Lake City in their regular-season finale, the Mountain West title and a potential BCS berth could be on the line.

BYU is the sexy BCS-buster pick among most right now, and it won’t be a surprise if they enter this game 11-0 and in position to claim a BCS berth. However, if Utah can win tough non-conference games against Michigan and Oregon State, being 11-0 is definitely within reach for the Utes.

The last two games in this series have come down to the final minutes, with BYU prevailing in both, so look for another nail-biter come Nov. 22.

2. Texas vs. Oklahoma, Oct. 11: Oklahoma is the more highly-touted national title contender, and should be ranked somewhere in the top three or four when they come into the , er, Rivalry with a 5-0 mark. However, Texas should also be 5-0 and pushing towards the top 5, provided they don’t get tripped up by a trip to Colorado the week before. So, this one will not only play a part in deciding the Big 12 South, but the victor would be well-positioned for an unbeaten season and quite possibly a berth in the BCS title game.

1. Florida vs. Georgia, Nov. 1: The game formerly known as the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party has seen a lot of barnburners in its 85-game history, but this year’s game could be the biggest in the rivalry’s history when the two SEC East rivals face off in Jacksonville.

Both of these teams will be ranked near the top of the preseason polls, and while the road to November 1st isn’t easy for either, there’s a good chance national title hopes will be on the line for at least one, and very likely both, the Gators and the Bulldogs.

Florida will have revenge on their minds after last year’s 42-30 loss, which saw the coming-out party of Georgia’s Knowshon Moreno, and Tim Tebow get battered by the tenacious Bulldog defense. Georgia will be coming into Jacksonville off of a game at LSU, so win or lose in that one, Florida could be in line to deliver a very deflating blow to Mark Richt’s ‘Dogs.

One important thing to consider is that Georgia will be bucking recent history if they come out on top, as they haven’t won two in a row over Florida since three straight wins from 1987-89. 1990 saw the start of the Steve Spurrier era, which began a run of dominance in the series that has seen the Gators win 15 of the last 18 contests.

There are several games that missed the cut, and a few of them may prove to carry more importance than a couple on this list (like Virginia Tech-Virginia, Oregon-Oregon State, Texas A&M-Texas, to name a few). But, these are my top 20–for now.
