The draft is less than 24 hours away, so I’m cranking out my final two-round mock draft. Jake Long is cemented as the #1 pick, but past that, there’s bound to be some craziness on Saturday and Sunday.
1. MIA: Jake Long, OT, Michigan
This one’s a done deal - the Dolphins signed Long this week, and he’ll be the first guy up on Saturday. Offensive line was Miami’s biggest need, and they filled it well.
2. STL: Chris Long, DE, Virginia
The Rams supposedly want Glenn Dorsey, but Long is a much better option. Adam Carriker could slot back in at DE, but the combination of Long at end and Carriker primarily at tackle would be more productive and make more sense for St. Louis’ defensive depth.
3. ATL: Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
Unless the Rams trade the #2 pick to the Saints so that they can get Dorsey, he’s the man for the Falcons at #3.
4. OAK: Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio St.
Al Davis loves Darren McFadden, but the Raiders are best going defense, not offense. There’ll be a transitional period with Gholston, but he has a world of potential, and so does Oakland’s defense.
5. KC: Branden Albert, G/T, Virginia
With the trade of Jared Allen, could the Chiefs trade up? They’re best going with Albert here to fill their biggest area of need, then getting a defensive end at #17 with their other first-rounder.
6. NYJ: Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
Thomas Jones averaged only 3.6 yards per carry, and he’s turning 30 in August. Leon Washington is one of the league’s best kick returners, but is he starting material? If McFadden’s here, there’s no way the Jets pass on him.
7. NE: Ryan Clady, OT, Boise St.
With the Pats having addressed corner and linebacker in free agency, those two areas aren’t as much of a priority now. But, after Tom Brady took a beating in the Super Bowl, taking Clady at this juncture would be a very, very good idea.
8. BAL: Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
There’s a chance, albeit a small one, that the Ravens pass on Matt Ryan for another option. However, as much as they reportedly love him, it’s hard to see that happening.
9. CIN: Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
I have Ellis rated higher than Dorsey, but Dorsey is a better fit for the Falcons than Ellis may be, and Ellis is a better fit for the Bengals than Dorsey would be.
10. NO: Keith Rivers, LB, USC
Even after signing Jonathan Vilma, the Saints need more linebackers, and Rivers would be a immediate starter in the Big Easy. He solidified his top-10 status with an excellent Pro Day.

Speaking of the draft, Yardbarker is in the thick of things in the Big Apple, and has a boatload of draft coverage going from here until the wildness winds down. So, check that out, and you can also go through the experience with Keith Rivers, who will be posting live from his draft day party and answering comments from fans. Also, you can check out video posts from Darren McFadden throughout the weekend.
On a personal note, I’ll be a part of FFReport’s weekend-long NFL Draft webcast. The webcast starts on Saturday at 1 pm EST and goes on through Sunday night. I’ll be on Sunday from 6 to 6:30 pm EST (5:30 CT), and from 7:45 to 8 pm EST (6:45 to 7 pm CT), but you can listen to the entire thing here.
