Dan Connor slips into the second round, but that's good news for the team he falls to.SECOND ROUND

32. Miami Dolphins – Gosder Cherilus – OT, Boston College

A major building block for a team under reconstruction is a solid tackle and Cherilus fits the bill.

33. St. Louis Rams – Quentin Groves – DE, Auburn

Groves is moving up draft boards and could go in the first round. If he falls this far, the Rams would be thrilled.

34. Atlanta Falcons – Justin King – CB, Penn State

The Falcons will pick up the Raiders’ second round pick in the DeAngelo Hall trade and may look to fill that hole. King’s stock is rising thanks to his impressive speed.

35. Kansas City Chiefs – Brandon Flowers – CB, Virginia Tech

With no Ty Law and Patrick Surtain no longer dependable to cover number one receivers, upgrading at corner is a priority for the Chiefs.

36. New York Jets – Devin Thomas – WR, Michigan St.

This should be about the time many of the wide receivers start to come off the board. The Jets need to upgrade an atrocious offense and nabbing McFadden and a number receiver would be a good start.

37. Atlanta Falcons – Anthony Collins – OT, Kansas

They almost certainly will go QB with their first round pick, now they need to get him protection.

38. Baltimore Ravens – Brian Brohm – QB, Louisville

The Ravens need their quarterback of the future and this is the right spot to take one.

39. San Francisco 49ers – Early Doucet – WR, LSU

The 49ers signed Isaac Bruce in the off-season, but how many more years does he have left?

40. New Orleans Saints – Dan Connor – ILB, Penn State

Connor may not actually last this long, but the Saints would love to see him shore up their defense.

41. Buffalo Bills – Martellus Bennett – TE, Texas A&M

Bennett didn’t quite have the career many thought he would at A&M, but he still is an exciting pro prospect.

42. Denver Broncos – Andre Caldwell – WR, Florida

Denver may use their first rounder on a wide out, but either way, round one or round two, they’ll almost certainly look to improve the passing game. Wide receiver may the one position they can upgrade that can get them over the top.

43. Carolina Panthers – Joe Flacco – QB, Delaware

The Jake Delhomme era is nearing an end and there is no help in sight as of yet, especially now that the disastrous David Carr experiment is over.

44. Chicago Bears – Chad Henne – QB, Michigan

Henne’s a Midwest guy and no matter how much the Bears tell themselves Rex Grossman is the solution, they have to be looking elsewhere.

45. Detroit Lions – Pat Sims – DT, Auburn

The Lions originally went TE here with Dustin Keller, but they have addressed that need through free agency. Sims could fill the vacancy left by the Shaun Rogers trade.

46. Cincinnati Bengals – Carl Nicks – OT, Nebraska

The Bengals must address their offensive line, either in the first or second round.

47. Minnesota Vikings – Andre Woodson – QB, Kentucky

It’s still hard to see Tarvaris Jackson as the franchise quarterback for the Vikings. Woodson would be a good project.

48. Atlanta Falcons (from Houston) – Earl Bennett – WR, Vanderbilt

Quarterback, offensive line, now wide receiver. The pieces start falling into place for an exciting, if young, offense.

49. Philadelphia Eagles – Curtis Lofton – ILB, Oklahoma

Lofton could potentially move outside and give the Eagles more of a pass rushing threat.

50. Arizona Cardinals – Jerod Mayo – ILB, Tennessee

If the Cardinals go offense in the first round, they should look to add to the defense in the later rounds. The Cardinals can score, sure, but can they stop anyone?

51. Washington Redskins – Phillip Wheeler – OLB, Georgia Tech

Randall Godfrey is a free agent and the Redskins have yet to re-sign him. The Redskins could stand to get younger in the linebacking corps.

52. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Donnie Avery – WR, Houston

Avery was hampered by a slower than expected 40 time (4.42), but can still fly. Ike Hilliard and Joey Galloway are no longer considered number one receivers.

53. Pittsburgh Steelers – Jamaal Charles – RB, Texas

It’s impossible to tell when Willie Parker will be back after breaking his leg, or how effective he’ll be when he returns.

54. Tennessee Titans – Trevor Laws – DT, Notre Dame

Laws could team with Albert Haynesworth to form a stout base for the Titans’ 4-3.

55. Seattle Seahawks – Kevin Smith – RB, Central Florida

Shaun Alexander saw his production drop significantly in 2007 and the Seahawks should already be plotting for his replacement, even with Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett both now in the mix.

56. Green Bay Packers – Xavier Adibi – OLB, Virginia Tech

The Packers got this pick from Cleveland in the Corey Williams trade. Adibi was a tackling machine at Virginia Tech and would form a nice duo with A.J. Hawk.

57. Miami Dolphins (from San Diego) – Erin Henderson – ILB, Maryland

No doubt the Dolphins will be looking to upgrade the linebacking corps after they released Zach Thomas.

58. Jacksonville Jaguars – Dustin Keller – TE, Purdue

Keller falls a bit in this update, primarily because many of the teams in the middle of the second round have bigger priorities other than tight end.

59. Indianapolis Colts – Steve Justice – C, Wake Forest

There are cracks in the armor along the line and Justice could potentially play guard.

60. Green Bay Packers – John Carlson – TE, Notre Dame

Now that Brett Favre has called it quits, getting Aaron Rodgers plenty of weapons would help him follow in impossible footsteps.

61. Dallas Cowboys – Duane Brown – OT, Virginia Tech

Brown’s stock is climbing and the Cowboys need to get younger along the offensive line.

62. New England Patriots – Oniel Cousins – OT, UTEP

After The Massacre in Glendale, upgrading the offensive line now becomes a priority.

63. New York Giants – Patrick Lee – CB, Auburn

Aaron Ross impressed during the postseason and Lee would be a great complement on the other side.
